Four decades of perfection
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Flat reference 15202ST.OO.1240ST.01. A occupies an essential place in the line of the Royal Oak. This generation, introduced in 2012 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the model, voluntarily returns to the codes of the reference 5402 drawn by Gérald Genta in 1972. Its diameter of 39 mm, its extra-flat profile and especially the return of the AP monogram at 6 o'clock make it one of the most faithful modern interpretations of the original Royal Oak.
Its blue dial "Petite Tapisserie" is one of the most sought-after signatures of this generation. Its geometric texture subtly catches the light and makes the blue evolve between deep and brighter shades according to the angle of observation. The positioning of the AP logo at 6 o'clock frees the upper part of the dial and creates a composition immediately recognisable by connoisseurs. The case and the integrated steel bracelet alternate satin surfaces and polished details, precisely underlining every facet of this iconic architecture.
Through the sapphire bottom is revealed the legendary automatic calibre 2121, directly from the same mechanical family as the one that animated the first Royal Oak of 1972. With only 3.05 mm thick, this suspended peripheral rotor movement allows the 15202 to maintain a profile of remarkable finesse. Operating at 19,800 alternations per hour and offering about 40 hours of power reserve, the 2121 calibre is now considered one of the most important extra-flat automatic movements in the history of high watchmaking.
From 2014, this example is offered in excellent condition and accompanied by its complete set including original box, papers and accessories. Between its historic diameter of 39 mm, its blue dial Petite Tapisserie, its AP logo at 6 o'clock and its mythical calibre 2121, this Royal Oak 15202ST brings together the attributes that have made the "Jumbo" one of the most important and most desirable sport-chic watches in modern watchmaking.
