Unveiled in 2022 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak, reference 26240ST represents a significant evolution of Audemars Piguet’s iconic chronograph. While faithfully preserving the design codes established by Gérald Genta in 1972, this new generation introduces a manufacture movement alongside subtle aesthetic refinements, further enhancing the model’s balance and modernity.
The Royal Oak Chronograph 41 ref. 26240ST.OO.1320ST.08 stands out with its deep green “Grande Tapisserie” dial, now one of the most sought-after visual signatures within the contemporary collection. Depending on the light, the tone shifts between a rich, vibrant green and darker, almost forest-like hues, bringing remarkable depth to the overall composition. The chronograph counters are arranged in a harmonious tricompax layout, with the small seconds at 6 o’clock, the 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock, and the 12-hour totaliser at 3 o’clock. The applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands in white gold, filled with luminescent material, ensure excellent legibility while preserving the model’s distinctive elegance.
The 41 mm stainless steel case retains the emblematic Royal Oak architecture, with its octagonal bezel secured by eight white gold hexagonal screws. Finishes alternate between satin-brushed surfaces and polished bevels with remarkable precision, illustrating the level of execution for which Audemars Piguet is renowned. The integrated steel bracelet extends these lines seamlessly, offering both comfort on the wrist and an immediately recognisable presence.
At the heart of the watch beats the manufacture calibre 4401, a new-generation selfwinding chronograph movement. Equipped with a column wheel and vertical clutch, it ensures smooth and precise chronograph engagement. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it offers approximately 70 hours of power reserve and features a modern architecture enhanced by refined finishing.
The present example dates from 2023 and is offered in unworn condition. It is delivered as a full set, complete with its original box, outer box, papers, and accessories.
With its particularly desirable green dial and latest-generation chronograph movement, this Royal Oak Chronograph 41 stands as one of the most attractive configurations in the current collection. A contemporary piece already highly sought after, combining iconic design, mechanical excellence, and exceptional visual presence.
